Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division hosted the triannual Mu2e Collaboration Meeting on August 31 through September 4

Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division hosted the Fall 2026 Mu2e Collaboration Meeting on August 31 to September 4, 2026. Held triannually, this meeting convenes scientists and engineers from across the world to present recent progress on the Mu2e “muon-to-electron-conversion” experiment at Fermilab, and to coordinate short- and long-term plans for commissioning the detector and computing systems, detector performance tests, software, and computing. Collaboration members are also organizing a year-long cosmic ray run, followed by the first beam run in 2027, as well as planning for several updates during a long shutdown period following the first beam run.

“At this meeting, we saw promising first results from cosmic ray commissioning of the full Mu2e detector,” said Dave Brown, a senior scientist in the Physics Division and leader of Berkeley Lab’s Mu2e research team, who chaired the organizing committee. “We also got to show our local research projects to potential collaborators.”

Joining Brown on the organizing committee for this event were Berkeley Lab researchers Edward Callaghan, Namitha Chithirasreemadam, and Richard Bonventre, with Robert Bernstein (Fermilab) and Stefano Miscetti (INFN).
