Safety Week 2023

A description of the different activities for this event is below.

Lab Walkthroughs by Physics Division Leadership will take place on Friday, October 6, 2023.

All Staff – LBNL Employees and Affiliates:

  • Training: Complete all required training. Go to https://training.lbl.gov/ to view your training profile.
    • I SM Training: Take LBL 0010 or ENG 1002 . The latter is specifically designed for Physical Sciences.
    • Ergo Training: Complete all Ergo training, EHS0058 , EHS0059 and EHS0054
    • Supervisors: Encouraged to take the training EHS 0042 , Overview of Supervisor’s EH&S responsibilities.
    • Activity Leads: Encouraged to take the training EHS 0011, Being an Activity Lead.
  • WPC: Make sure all Activities are up to date, staff is assigned to a WPC (Work Planning and Control) activity, they have accepted the activity and completed all the training. Those that do not perform work onsite need to be opted out – contact Ingrid Peterson, ibpeterson@lbl.gov
  • Housekeeping
    • Excess/Salvage old computers: Room 50-5034 will be the location where you can drop off old computers. Place a tag with your name and cell number for property inventory processing, and put an entry in the Physics Computer Registry. Contact Bryan Abshier, babshier@lbl.gov for questions.
    • Discard paper, books, etc: Recycling bins will be provided. Contact Ken Wilson, kwilson@lbl.gov for questions.
  • Multi Lab Safety Week Seminars on Lessons Learned: Tuesday, 10/3/23 and Wednesday, 10/4/23 – Zoom Link https://lbnl.zoom.us/j/96264635723

Additional steps for those working in Labs:

  • Discard unused lab equipment: Bins will be provided. Contact Ken Wilson, kwilson@lbl.gov for questions.
  • Chemical owners: Ensure all your chemicals have RFID tags and your chemical inventory is accurate. Discard any unused chemicals by submitting a Hazardous Waste Requisition.
  • Door placards: Information to update can be found at AFoote@lbl.gov for help.
  • Preventing Water leaks: For those with water-connected equipment, please take this opportunity to inspect those connections and perform any necessary preventive maintenance.
