Solving a Mystery in Dark Matter Detectors Could Improve Quantum Computers
Unexplained bursts of energy have hindered certain dark matter detectors — and might also factor into how superconducting qubits perform. Scientists on the TESSERACT dark matter experiment traced some of those bursts to vibrations within the detector material itself, and achieved world-leading detector sensitivity in the process.
