Advanced Detector Research & Development
We have an exciting program of Advanced Detector R&D with a balance of technical foundation groundwork and blue sky exploration. Detector R&D cuts across scientific areas and across LBNL divisions. The ADRD program provides a backbone to enable this development, with local capabilities and technical support. The Physics Division seeks out and promotes collaboration within LBNL, with UCB, Industry, and with other institutes. The core capabilities are the Microsystems Lab (Phys. Div.), the Composites Lab (Eng. Div.) the Integrated Circuit Design group (Eng. Div.), and the Phys. Div. technical spaces, including machine shop, wire bonding lab, cryogenic test facilities down to sub-K, and irradiation capabilities.
